A morning winter weather update from City of Ottawa Public Works crews:
Some snow fell overnight approx. 2 cm but quickly transitioned to ice pellets and freezing rain. Priority roads and sidewalks have been plowed, salted and are mostly slushy for the morning commute but areas remain slippery. Day staff will continue with the plowing and salting of the priority network. Residential streets and sidewalks will be salted/gritted but are drivable and walkable. Temperatures are -2C and rising. The radar is showing light freezing rain and appears will transition to straight rain in a couple of hours.
Please drive slowly and give extra room between vehicles. Walk with caution.
