Update - Winter Advisory February 25

Priority roads and sidewalk conditions range from slushy, bare, wet and localized icy conditions. Combo trucks continue salting and scraping the priority roads through the morning peak with the ongoing precipitation.  

Periods of rain and freezing rain mix through the morning commute as the system continues tracking across the Ottawa area, temperatures 1C, rain transitions to periods of light snow in the afternoon accumulations approx. 2 cm. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h with gust up to 35 km/h this afternoon. Temperature falling to minus 1C this afternoon. For the afternoon commute there will be periods of light snow ending early this evening.


Roads staff will continue to clear catch basins to relieve pooling on roads and sidewalks. Staff has commenced local residential road plowing and salting, also the ongoing scraping and salting sidewalks and bus stops, turning lanes & corners. Night shift scheduled for 7 pm to continue with the clean up.

Information will be provided to residents through ottawa.ca and social media.

On ottawa.ca, a seasonal “Winter Weather” banner will direct residents to a web page that will provide information on the weather, including updates on City operations and tips on what residents can do to prepare for and during weather events. It will also inform residents they can make weather related service requests through Service Ottawa’s online service request system. 

We will continue to provide operational updates if weather conditions change and the event progresses.
