The Week Ahead...

Here's a preview of some of the things we are working on this week for Bay Ward & Ottawa residents....

Monday will be a busy day as new Councillors take their office at City Hall. I will be following up a meeting from last week with another on the progress being made to break ground on the Centre Multiservice Francophone Ottawa at the former Grant school. Board members and I will be working on their January timetable.
Our Social Service staff have been working hard to correct errors in a new Provincial system that manages payments to those receiving assistance. I will be receiving an update on that and speaking with staff from the Ministers office responsible for the system. Later in the day I meet with Susan Jones our General Manager of Emergency and Protective Services on a range of issues including work on bandit taxis and our hiring plan for new Fire and By-Law Chiefs. With other Nepean & west end Councillors organized by Jan Harder & Rick Chiarelli we will be discussing how to help the Queensway Carleton Hospital on their capital fundraising campaign.
We cap off Monday with the swearing in ceremony at Centrepointe Theatre joined by family and friends.

Tuesday is reserved for office work and constituent calls and meetings. I won't miss the Mayor & Councillors Bake Sale though for the Caring and Sharing exchange. This year a Bay Ward icon - Golden Palace - is donating egg rolls for us to sell as our ward's contribution to the cause.

Wednesday is our 1st Council of the new term. Governance issues will be discussed among other items.

Thursday will be filled with internal discussions with staff on progress being made on LRT Stage 2 plans as well as our ongoing childcare modernization.

Friday is my day in my ward office meeting with residents. We will also be dropping in on west end businesses to chat about our economic development plans along Carling Avenue.

Saturday and Sunday are filled with events in our community as well as some targeted holiday shopping!

So that's a preview of just some of the things on this weeks calendar. As always please reach out to our office if we can work on something for you and let us know what's going on in your Bay Ward neighbourhood!
