September Column

Dear neighbours,

Summer of 2015 has come and gone.  I trust that you and your family were able to enjoy some rest and relaxation together. I want to thank the many residents and community organizations who welcomed me to BBQ’s, Fun Days, and the numerous other activities across Bay Ward and our City.

On August 30th I hosted my 4th Annual Movie in the Park in the Carlingwood Community.  I want to extend my thanks to the Carlingwood Community Association for helping to spread the word. To the over 200 people who joined us to watch “Home” on such a beautiful evening under a clear sky thank you as well!  I hope you had as much fun as my team and I did.

Cleaning the Capital

Autumn is a great time for families, friends and communities to come together, clean our City and help to keep it green!  If you or your organization register your clean-up before September 15th there are great prizes to be won. Capital Clean-Up runs until October 31st.   For more information and to register your clean-up you can visit  I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers who give time and help out.  Together we can keep Ottawa Beautiful!

Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation

Our community has one of the highest percentages of older adults in Canada.  The Queensway Carleton Hospital is recognised as a regional leader in acute geriatric care. I along with six of my west end Council Colleagues have made a commitment to assist and support the QCH Foundation on the construction of Ontario’s 2nd Acute Care Elderly Unit (ACE).  The ACE Unit will be a state-of-the-art, 34 bed inpatient medical unit where specialized comprehensive care of elderly patients is provided.   I am proud to support this initiative and encourage you to learn more and spread the word.  Visit

Returning to School

Good luck to all our young residents who started school this year and to those returning, I wish you success in your studies.  I would also like to take this opportunity to remind drivers to drive with care in and around our schools.

You can always find more details for upcoming events and activities in Bay Ward and across Ottawa by following me on Twitter and Facebook or by subscribing to updates at

Should you ever need the assistance of my team please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are happy to help.
