Dear Resident,

As part of the West Transitway Extension project, which will extend the Transitway from Bayshore Station to Moodie Drive, the City of Ottawa is reviewing existing and proposed pedestrian and cyclist facilities to ensure that community connections are preserved and enhanced as part of the overall project. The current planning and design includes a series of mobility enhancements, including bicycle facilities, multi-use pathways, and intersection treatments in accordance with City policies and future planning.

WHY:                To improve transit service reliability, the City has developed a plan to extend the West Transitway from Bayshore Station to Moodie Drive. This plan received provincial environmental assessment (EA) approval in 2012.

WHAT:             The public consultation will include recommendations for connectivity planning and design based on existing City plans and context as well as moderated break-out sessions to get input from the community on these recommendations.

WHEN:             Construction began in late 2015 and is estimated to take approximately two (2) full construction seasons to complete, with final landscaping in 2018. Where feasible, it is the City’s intention to incorporate the mobility enhancements as part of the current project.

WHERE:           The main transitway project is immediately north of the Highway 417 but the Connectivity Study area would include connections to points beyond, including Moodie Drive, Corkstown Road, Holly Acres, Aero Drive, and Bayshore Station.

The Ward Councillor and representatives from the City will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. If you require special accommodation, please contact the undersigned.
