News Release: Skating season begins on outdoor rinks

Ottawa –Thousands of volunteers are preparing the City’s outdoor rinks and, weather permitting, many rinks will be open for skating.

The City operates more than 250 outdoor rinks citywide. In addition to skating, rinks are often at the center of community events.

Outdoor rinks may close from time-to-time due to changing weather conditions. Visit ottawa.ca to find out the present condition of your favourite rink.

In the interim, the refrigerated ice pads at the Sens Rink of Dreams at City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West) and at the Lansdowne Skating Court (450 Queen Elizabeth Drive) are already open for skating. Follow the City on Twitter @ottawacity for updates or check ottawa.ca to make sure they are open.

Residents can also take advantage of the refrigerated ice pad at Ben Franklin Place (101 Centrepointe Drive).
