Thanks to the efforts of Ottawa Public Health, the Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centres of Ottawa, the Community Foundation of Ottawa, Loblaws Canada and many other community partners the MarketMobile will now be coming to Bayshore Accora Village and three other communities.
Since I was elected in 2010 I have seen the community in Accora Village come together to build a community garden, a bake oven, the Sens Rink and now they will continue to gather around good food.
The neighbourhood had been identified as a food desert but it is becoming an oasis.
The community garden is flourishing and people are coming together to enjoy homemade baking at the oven. It is wonderful to see.
Having access to good, fresh, culturally appropriate food from the MarketMobile will continue to improve the lives of the more than 7,000 people living in Accora Village and those living in the surrounding communities.
Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen.
