The City of Ottawa's Forestry Department is beginning a woodlot rehabilitation plan in Frank Ryan Park in the coming weeks. Forestry staff will be removing a number of ash trees and buckthorn from the park.
The work is to be conducted weather permitting. Crews require a number of very cold days for the ground to freeze solid so as to ensure damage to other forest vegetation is kept to a minimum. Given the fluctuating temperatures recently, they cannot say for certain when they will be able to begin the work.
