I wanted to take a moment to share with Britannia area residents a recent warning from the Provincial Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in conjunction with the Ottawa River Regulatory Planning Board.
Please see below for more details:
Environment Canada is forecasting 20mm of precipitation for the Ottawa area in the next 24-36 hours.
The Ottawa Regulatory Planning Board reports that water levels have started to decline north of Pembroke which will help alleviate high water levels around Ottawa. The water levels in the Ottawa region have started to stabilize but are expected to increase over the next 24 hours with the forecasted rainfall for the region. Minor flooding is expected in low-lying areas in Constance Bay, Britannia area, and Petrie Island. Water levels at Britannia are expected to remain high into next week.
Public Works and Environmental Services will continue to supply sand and bags at City yards for residents. Some roadways and pathways have been closed due to minor flooding.
The City remains in situational awareness.
