I wanted to take a moment to share with Britannia area residents a recent warning from the Provincial Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in conjunction with the Ottawa River Regulatory Planning Board.
Please see below for more details:
The Provincial Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in conjunction with the Ottawa River Regulatory Planning Board are reporting that recent rainfall combined with snowmelt has caused flows along the Ottawa River between Pembroke and Montreal to rise resulting in flooding in the low-lying areas. An increase in water flow and levels (up to 5cm) is expected over the next few days before stabilizing. Minor flooding is expected in low-lying areas in Constance Bay, Britannia area, and Petrie Island.
City of Ottawa staff have placed sandbags at the regular drop off point for Britannia residents - at Rowat.
