Deputy Mayor Mark Taylor Travels To China

Representing Mayor Watson, Deputy Mayor Taylor travelled to China earlier this week to represent the Mayor at several events and meet with local and Henan Province officials.

Representing Mayor Watson, Deputy Mayor Taylor travelled to China earlier this week to represent the Mayor at several events and meet with local and Henan Province officials. 

In Zhengzhou City the Deputy Mayor spoke at and is attending the International Mayor’s Forum on Tourism from May 24th to 26th. This forum brings together 998 Mayors, Deputy and Vice Mayors and their representatives to share knowledge and developments in the tourism sector. It also provides an opportunity to promote Ottawa as a destination for foreign visitors and tourism business entrepreneurs. The conference is jointly organized by the China National Tourism Administration, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the People’s Government of Henan Province.

While in Zhengzhou the Deputy Mayor also met with a number of Municipal and Provincial officials to encourage the growth of collaboration within the tourism sector building upon the existing strong ties between Ottawa and China, notably the sister city agreement with Beijing.

Later this week the Deputy Mayor travels to Guiyang to speak at the Mobile Electronic Competitive Industry 2016 Development Conference, meet the Minister of Tourism, the Mayor of Guiyang  and visit the Guiyang Crowdfunding exchange. At each stop promoting Ottawa as a destination for new business expansion and entrepreneurship opportunities is to be discussed.

All travel and hotel costs for this trip are paid for by the Canada China Federation of Entrepreneurs who are additionally providing on site assistance and translation services.
