The renewal of the field house in Bayshore Park has been identified as one of the top priorities for Ottawa in the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.
This is a program that will see $4M in federal funding matched by municipal funding to invest in arts and cultural programming and parks and recreation investments. The $1 M Bayshore Field House expansion and renovation was awarded by the Federal Government, and staff are working on the plans for construction to start in 2016.
It would serve as a community gathering place and a space for people to lace up skates, change soccer uniforms, hold meetings, host potlucks, and more.
Adjacent to the Sens Rink, the community garden, the bake oven and the soon-to-be-completed outdoor theatre we know the space is well-used by the community and that the renovated and expanded field house would complement the other public spaces.
